The Christmas Fair will return to Gustafskyrkan, the Swedish church in Copenhagen.
The weekend before the first Advent there will be a Christmas Fair in the Swedish church in Copenhagen again. It is always a pleasure to welcome our visitors, but this year the pleasure is greater than usual because we had skip last year’s Fair. The Christmas Fair in Gustafskyrkan is the oldest one in Denmark, and many Copenhageners consider our fair to be the place where Christmas begins. This year will be slightly different. We will of course be wearing our traditional folk costumes as always, but with bottles of sanitation alcohol in our apron pockets. We’ll all keep a little distance, observe good hand hygiene and we will also sit at smaller tables in the café.
This year’s lovely illustration was made by Einar Nerman (1888-1983). After having studied at a Parisian art school Einar Nerman was active in London and New York, and later he became internationally known for his caricatures of well known artists. His most famous work is the illustration for the Swedish matchbox “Solstickan”.

HRH Princess Benedikte

HRH Princess Benedikte will open the Christmas Fair on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, between 11am and 3pm, the children can make snowmen in the peaceful church. On Sunday Santa will visit the Fair at 1pm.
The Christmas concert starts at 2 pm on Sunday the 21st, in the church. You can listen to the Church Choir, soloists and accompaniment. We bid a warm welcome to this year’s Christmas Fair – number 109! Already by the gate, there will be a tempting scent of “glögg” and hot meatballs from the stalls. Inside you can make bargains at the book stall, and also at the flea market! There are a lot of Christmas Elfs to choose from at “Julboden”, and in other stalls you will find colorful posters, cards and advent calendars, candlesticks, tablecloths and other items for the homemaker. There are striped candy sticks in abundance, and why not try your luck at one of our classic lotteries with fine prizes? There is no Swedish Christmas without ham and smoked salmon and these and other delicacies can, as usual, be found at the Food stall. When you need a well deserved break, you’ll find it in the café, where freshly made sandwiches, Swedish cheese cake, “lussekatter” and homemade cookies are available.
