Presentation of scholarships from The Queen Mary Scholarship
H.M. The Queen attended the presentation of scholarships from The Queen Mary Scholarship at the University of Copenhagen on Friday, May 16, 2025.
The scholarship is awarded in recognition of Australian exchange students who demonstrate academic excellence, contribute to the cultural and social environment, and strengthen the ties between Denmark and Australia.
This year, one scholarship was awarded to Emilija Celar, who is enrolled at Macquarie University, where she studies archaeology. At the University of Copenhagen, Emilija is taking various courses in European history, which support her interest in “Viking Warfare.”
This year’s second scholarship was awarded to Edward Noel Ford, who is enrolled at The University of Sydney, where he studies law. At the University of Copenhagen, Edward is studying at the Faculty of Law with a particular focus on “International Investment Law” and “Sustainability.”

The scholarship, originally called The Crown Princess Mary Scholarship, was established by the University of Copenhagen on the occasion of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess’s wedding in 2004. The scholarship is not only financial support but also a symbol of the close bond between Australia and Denmark. The scholarships come with 15,000 DKK.
