The occasion of the event was a trade mission, taking the 15 wine delegates all the way to wintery Denmark, in order to introduce their wines to Danish audiences.

Efter many years of apartheid in South Africa, the Western Cape wine industry is experiencing growth again. It is no longer a sector reserved only for white males. Rather, the African part of the population has increasingly begun to become wine makers and producers themselves, owning land of their own. Although some South African wines are already on the shelves in Danish wine stores and supermarkets, wines from this part of the world have much more to offer, and the aim of the mission was to open Danish importers’ eyes to the diversity of the Western Cape wine production.

The following wineries presented their wines and told their interesting stories at the media event:

Ayana Wines

Bayede Marketing

Best Spirit of Africa

Carmen Stevens Wines

Thokozani Winelands

Imvula Wines
