A golden championship for Kenya in Copenhagen

The anticipated head-to-head between reigning champion Zersenay Tadese, regarded by many as the greatest ever half-marathon runner, and 2010 champion Wilson Kiprop didn’t quite materialise at the IAAF World Half-Marathon Championships in Copenhagen on Saturday (29). Both runners finished adrift of the medals in a race won by Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor from Kenya, whose bold front-running style is becoming his trademark.

Kipsang, who won the junior race at the 2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in gun-to-tape fashion, didn’t lead all the way today, but the 21-year-old made a pivotal move just after the 15km mark which dropped, among others, the five-time champion Tadese, who flirted with the lead in the early stages.

On the other hand, Kipsang’s move was a decisive one. He covered the 5km between 15-20km in under 14 minutes and this sustained pressure over the final quarter succeeded in bringing Kenya their tenth individual gold medal in the men’s race in a world-leading 59:07.

While disappointed to miss an individual medal of any description, Tadese, who finished fourth in 59:37, did come away with the title from the team race. Led by Samuel Tsegay, who overhauled Guye Adola from Ethiopia for silver in 59:20, Eritreans filled five of the top eight places to defeat Kenya and Ethiopia respectively for the team accolade.

In the women’s race, the Kenyans arrived as the strongest team on paper and their contingent of five runners made their presence felt from the very early stages.

No country has ever taken a clean sweep in this race before but their quintet led by world 10,000m silver medallist Gladys Cherono went one, or two, better by occupying the first five spots.

Cherono came through to take the title in 67:28 with Mercy Ngugi and Sally Kaptich comprising the podium with lifetime bests of 67:43 and 67:51 respectively.

Netsanet Gudeta from Ethiopia was the first non-Kenyan finisher in sixth in 68:45, just ahead of 39-year-old Christelle Daunay from France and 37-year-old Valeria Straneo from Italy in seventh and eighth respectively.

The next IAAF World Half-Marathon Championships are to be held in Cardiff in 2016 and the first British finisher was Alyson Dixon, who lowered her lifetime best to 70:37 for eighteenth.

Another mass participation race will be held in conjunction with the elite race in two years’ time. In a well-received innovation by the organisers, the mass runners in the Danish capital today were placed at the core of the championships as 30,000 runners from more than 70 nations streamed over the start-line right behind the elite men.

Jakob Larsen, the CEO of the Danish Athletics Federation, said the running boom in Denmark provided the initial impetus and added he hoped this format will be considered in other global championships in the future.

Among those running with the masses was former world 800m record-holder and event ambassador Wilson Kipketer, who clocked a very respectable 1:20:38 for the distance.

Halldór Ásgrímsson, Vice President of the ICD; Former Prime Minister of Iceland; Former Secretary General for the Nordic Council of Ministers. (Annual Conference on Cultural Diplomacy 2013)

Master Jun Hong Lu, World Renowned Chinese Spiritual Leader, receives the ICD Award for Execptional Contribution and Peace Advocacy to the Global Community. He has been spoken efter   the ICD Award :I am very pleased that ICD invited me to be part of this great conference this year. I also thank   the support from everyone here.

Thank ICD for presenting me with such a great honour. I feel very privileged. This award     will certainly inspire me to work harder,   and do everything I can to promote intercultural exchange and world peace.

In the meantime, I hope that, through this event, more people can understand the concepts of Buddhism better and welcome them with open arms, so that we can be closer to the dream of a more peaceful world.

The right way of thinking and true wisdom, are the fundamentals for our correct understanding of this world. They are also the fundamentals for providing fitting solutions to the problems we face today. However, the deviation from the correct way of thinking, and our lack of wisdom,   result   in   our incorrect understanding of the world we live in today. Because of this, we fail to deal with the problems we face in the world with intelligence and wisdom.

That is why we find these long-lasting conflicts between people, and between nations and there does not seem to be functional solutions to them.

Moreover, in our modern society, failing to see through the true nature of things has resulted in harm to ourselves. Therefore, all kinds of mental disorders arise and they become a real problem in many parts of this World. The development of many problems depends on, to a great extent, how we view and understand them. Since we do not understand these issues fully, we actually contribute to the complex development of these problems.

In other words, if our limited understanding of a certain issue accounts for more than 50% of   the way we see it in our minds, the solution we provide to the issue can only be limited, or incomprehensive. Hence, all kinds of conflicts can take place.

Therefore, making our minds pure, and transforming the way we see things, can help us become more open-minded, and more selfless. We will be able to let go of our ego, and regard all people with compassion. If we can put the concepts of Buddhism into practice, then I believe,   this world will certainly be filled with love and peace.

I will do everything I can, to promote the unity of all kinds of faiths in the world with the concepts of Buddhism, and to promote intercultural exchange. In the meantime, I hope that, together, we can make this world a more peaceful place. “

2.Interview Master Jun hong Lu

At a.m. of Nov. 19, I interviewed Jun hong Lu in Berlin

I asked, “Master Lu, do you have any plan for promoting world peace?”

The director replied that: everyone desires peace, to do more contribution to the world peace is what each Buddhism learner shall do; actually, Buddhism is earning-less, and to learn Buddhism shall be to insist on compassion and use the compassion to forgive and settle wars and domestic and social conflicts. The prize I won will also encourage me to do more contribution to the world peace in future.

We all live in the global village and I hope everyone can do more contribution to the globe to get rid of hardship, natural disasters and even the man-made calamity. Peace is a good medicine which makes a person feel peaceful, so people in the world love peace; to let the people in the world to understand the compassion spiritual concept of the Buddhism can make the world to be more peaceful. I am very exciting and cherish the existence of the peace much more.Toda’s peace is actually created by thousands of people who have being contributed like the Director. We cannot enjoy the peace without the contribution of our predecessors; it is just like the South Africa’s revolutionist, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, who has won more than one hundred prizes in forty years, including the Nobel Peace Prize won in 1993. Mandela who had taken the post of the president for six years and had been executed for 27 years was the first South Africa’s president elected by people and is respected by people all over the world. He devoted himself to the abolishment of the racial segregation system and the realization of the racial reconciliation and reduced poverty and unfairness. He led the South Africa’s people for the racial reconciliation during the transitional period of promoting multi-racial democracy after he was discharged from prison. Since the racial segregation system was ended, Mandela was appraised even by the opponents in past. We only need peace rather than war, so it encourages me to do more contribution for the world peace.

In fact, the Buddhism considers that both a family and a country need a peaceful mind. We need to get rid of war rather than letting the war kill the human if we need a peaceful world. We shall remove the war and the annoyance in the man’s world by using the concept of peace. I hope the world to be in peace forever so as to protect our children and future generations and let them enjoy the happiness of peace. In the aspect of education, we shall let our children know how important the peace is for us since they are young. To carry forward the Chinese traditional essential culture, we shall know the culture and shall take the compassion of person to fuse the enmity in the world.

Master Lu said again, ‘At present, I am the alliance member of the international congress, the United Nations has a new constitutional law which has not been issued, and we shall promote the world peace better by using cultural peace. I hope people in future can bette4r accept the peace concept of religion. A person shall live in a peaceful society and shall have a right of owning the life in the peaceful society. In current world, the United Nations is enabled to promote the humanistic society and the cultural peace to the world, and generalize the international morality and ethics. I am invited to participate a cultural peace meeting held by the United Nations in New York and make a speech in the meeting. The Kill of Morocco also invites me to hold a meeting. Meanwhile, I am invited by some countries to make speech in their countries. I will promote this proposal to let more countries in the world to implement the cultural peace.’
Thank ICD for presenting me with such a great honour. I feel very privileged. This award     will certainly inspire me to work harder,   and do everything I can to promote intercultural exchange and world Peace

3. Interview of famous person

In the cultural diplomacy academic annual meeting held in Berlin in 2013, representatives participating in the meeting make speeches, discussion and argument and discussed the international relationship of the cultural diplomacy between the optimal practices and the harmony-promoting application of the common and special cultures and arts.

On the evening of Nov. 19, Jun hong Lu, the Chinese spiritual leader, the president and Director of Australia Oriental Chinese Broadcasting Station who has developed and expanded Buddha dharma for more than 20 years in Australia, was awarded ‘Global Community Special Contribution Peace Prize’ and was one member of this meeting.

On afternoon of 20th, I interviewed the Hon. Simon Crean, the Former Australian Minister for Regional Development in the Office Hall of ICD.

I asked, “Mr. Simon Crean, you and the MasterJun hong Lu are from Austria, how do you evaluate the case that the Master Jun hong Lu was awarded the Global Community Special Contribution Peace Prize?”

Mr. Simon Crean said to me, ‘Actually speaking, I am very respectful to Master Lu. As a Chinese immigrant in Australia, Master Lu has opened 2OR Australia Oriental Chinese Broadcasting Station for developing and expanding Buddhism powerfully to the countries all over the world in Australia in 20 years, rescued countless lost souls, helped human to find the nature, expanded and strengthened the cultural communication between east and west, carried out racial fusion in the global village, and made outstanding contribution for promoting the social harmony, progress and development and for protecting the physical and psychological health of human. ‘Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace’ has awarded him the ‘World Peace Prize (Buddhism)’. Lu Junhong was awarded the ‘Global Commudity Special Contribution Peace Prize’ yesterday, and he deserved it.

On the evening of 19th, Hrant Bagratyan, the former Prime Minister of Armenia and I sit at the same table in the dinner party and we talked about the case that Lu Junhong was awarded ‘Global Community Special Contribution Peace Prize’. Hrant Bagratyan said to me, “Master Lu has made a great effort and contribution by leading the Oriental Station to carry forward and broadcast the Chinese Zen culture and maintain the world peace, and he is a true peace envoy.Professor,Zi jian Li , the unique Chinese Hong Kong representative participating in the ICD meeting (the vice president of Hong Kong Education College) made a speech called ‘Importance of Peace Education’ in the ICD cultural diplomacy on 20th, 2013. After his speech, we also talked about the Master Lu, the professor Li said, “Master Jun hong Lu has done his best to carry forward and broadcast the Buddhism and the Chinese traditional culture in more than 20 years. He held a Buddhist Fellowship which 15000 participated in summer of 2012 to carry forward the Chinese traditional culture to the world, enhance the studying of the Chinese Zen culture and promote peace……”

4. Held introduction meeting to answer Buddhists’ problems

On the evening of Nov. 17, a Buddhism Introduction Meeting was held in the ICD Meeting Hall of Berlin, the Master Jun hong Lu explained the life, showed the Buddhists at present how to get onto the right path, broadcasted the Chinese culture, promoted the soul health and blessed the world peace in the meeting.

The Master Jun hong Lu made a wonderful speech. He told us, ‘everyone has accumulated ignorant habits and evil creatures which are high as a mountain and deep as a sea since he was born, so that today’s padipata is always blocked by the ignorant habits and the interfered by the desire. The Master’s edification told us the origin of the ignorant habits, introduced us how to overcome the desire, remove the ignorance and improve the padipata realm by using the willingness and abstaining. The master said that the humane beings have inherent ignorant habits of aversion delusion. If one habit of one person is beyond a normal person, it indicates his habit is related to his performance of his previous life, and he needs to recompense in this life. If the ignorant habit cannot be removed by the virtue of the padipata, he will make mistakes in this life to apply nutrition to the seed of the habit and results a bigger bad result to make him degenerate. On the contrast, if the aversion delusion is removed through the postnatal padipata, no condition will be brought to the ignorance and the deep-rooted bad habits cannot be survived. The desire is an unbounded sea, and is also the origin of annoyance and pain of the life. We study the Buddhism is to understand the significance of the life.’

Doctor Dong hui Chen the new Danish Buddhist made a speech in the Buddhism Meeting. He introduced his chanting condition, ‘I studied Western medicine doctor in England, I studied Chinese medicine doctor in America in 2000, and I obtained the American doctorate in 2004. I predict human’s health by using the date of birth and the eight characters of a horoscope and can predict very well in Denmark. So far, I have let 98 infertile women to be pregnant again. I suffered from diabetes in 2003, I was badly ill and only ate tomatoes and black breads usually. I started chanting to beg the Bodhisattva to bless my health on Oct. 14, 2013, and I unexpectedly found a very surprising phenomenon that the diabetes was changed from 10.40 at the highest to 5.

4. At the lowest (taking medicine).

After chanting, I had a chance to help to treat patients and myself, I thought its my good fortune. Now, I would like to share with you and I hope everyone can try to chant.’

Para-dressur ryttere viste gode freestyles

(World Equestrian Games) for at gøre det

– Jeg ville gerne have brudt 80.

Grad IV

– I really did not expect it at all. He’s just got better each day but he’s still not got as good as I know he can be which is a little bit frustrating for me. He’s just an amazing horse and I know that there’s so much
in there but I haven’t been able to show it off but hopefully I’ll get the opportunity next year inWEG

I could feel that I would make it today. I went early to bed last night, slept very well and did not wake up before the alarm ringed. Then I braided his mane and from that moment on I felt like today is the day and it is going to be everything or nothing – and it became everything!

German Hannelore Brenner and Women of the World e. Walt Disney came second, followed by French José Letartre and Warina by Weltruhm.

Grade IV

The highest score of the day came in grade IV, where Sophie Wells and Valerius by Flemmingh took gold with 80,25%. He horse is still quite inexperienced, she told:

It’s only his second championship so it’s quite a big thing for him and it’s a big atmosphere but he listened to me all through the test and produced some of his best work. I was able to take some risks and he was in the right place to do that and it paid of.

Dutch Frank Hosmar and Alphaville by Sandreo took silver, and Danish Line Thorning Jørgensen took bronze with Di Caprio by De Niro.

European Commission member Dr. Marzenna Guz-Vetter expressed, Junhong Lu is a genuine world peace messenger

It is known to all people with a basic knowledge of China that, the People’s Republic of China was founded on October 1, 1949. The Central People’s Government held the ceremony grandly in Beijing that day. Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Central People’s Government then, stepped on Tiananmen Gate Tower and announced in Xiangtan accent that the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China was founded and Chinese people have stood up. This was a token for establishment of the People’s Republic of China. Thereafter, Chinese government set October 1 as the National Day.

It is also known to all that Zhuge Liang was the prime minister of the Shu-Han Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms period and also a renowned politician, a military strategist and an inventor in Chinese history. He was a military counselor of Liu Bei during the Three Kingdoms period.

Empty Fort Strategy devised by Zhuge Liang is a household word in China. One day, Sima Yi led 150,000 soldiers to besiege the city where Zhuge Liang and his 5,000 soldiers stayed. In this circumstance, Zhuge Liang asked two servants to carry a Guqin and follow him to step on the gate tower. They burned incense and then played the Gunqin with ease and smile. Seeing this situation, Sima Yi commanded his army to retreat immediately. Later, Zhuge Liang usually won in wars and played a decisive role in enabling Sun-Liu Alliance and establishing the Shu-Han Dynasty.

Academic Annual Conference of Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) was held on the morning of December 19, 2013 in Europe House (The European Parliament Information Office and European Commission Representation Berlin). At the conference, Junhong Lu, the President of Australia of Oriental Radio delivered a wonderful and impressive speech in standard and fluent English on the rostrum. Lu is a worldwide renowned Chinese spiritual leader and has been committed to teaching Buddhism for over 20 years in Australia.

Lu said, “For the past 20 years, I devoted myself to promoting Chinese culture and facilitating world peace. Today’s success proves EU governments’ have recognized my teaching of Buddhism. It will be a new start for me. I will step forward continuously and try my best to encourage and drive worldwide people to follow Buddhism and find their spiritual sustenance and contribute to world peace.”

After his speech, Dr. Marzenna Guz-Vetter, a member of European Commission, returned to his VIP seat in the first row (by my right hand) and said to me, “Junhong Lu carries his ideas and concepts about peace into Europe House for the first time today.
